    Material: Lat. iuncus “ bulrush” (*i̯oini-ko-s) belongs to M.Ir. aín “ bulrush” (*i̯oini-), gen. aíne; about Lat. iūniperus “Wacholderstrauch” s. WH. I 731, 870 and Leumann Gl. 27, 74; O.Ice. einir, Swe. en “ juniper “, N.Ger. ēn(e)ke ds. whether from *jainia-, wodurch the Bedeutungswechsel Binse : juniper (see above) as old gesichert wũrde. Yet is then by M.L.G. eynholz and Ger. Einbeerbaum (from O.Ice. eini-ber “Wacholderbeere”) influence of ein “ein” anzunehmen.
